I didn’t always have a love for running. My parents strongly encouraged me to sign up for XC my freshman year of high school to ensure I was involved in school sports and to train for spring soccer tryouts. But I never made it to the soccer tryouts. I fell in love with running, joined spring track instead, ran XC and track all 4 years of high school, and ended up running for a D1 school in college.
After college, I felt burned out from competitive running and injuries, so I took a few years off of organized running. I returned more seriously to running after getting married in summer 2017. I went on to run my first marathon in 2018 resulting in a BQ. In 2019 I ran many more races and fell in love with running again. Unfortunately, in 2020, I suffered my first ever stress fracture and a string of other injuries after that. I did not go on to run a race or significant mileage until summer 2023. It’s almost 2024 and I’m excited to be back to healthy running and feel like I’ve just scratched the surface of my potential in running. This is in part due to people in my life who believe in my running potential.
